Happy birthday, Matthew!! Life is not dull with you!! We love you very much! Instead of a cake - we let Matthew get his own ice cream sundae - he did a pretty good job on it. He picked out m&m's sprinkles and oreo cookies to go on it :o)

overly tired silliness
I had to get a picture of Matthew's face after he ate his chocolate dipped doughnut. As usual - he ate the top off and left the rest.
He decided - in his lack of nap silliness - that it would be funny to cross his eyes - every time I tried to take a picture. He usually decides to cross his eyes and look at us while we're trying to eat a meal.
I must admit - they are funnier pictures now!

The cave
Matthew's perpetual action - pushing/pulling up his sleeves.
Silly, silly boy
I realized that the last few posts showed a "serious" Matthew. Don't want you to get the impression that he doesn't have any fun ;o)
Mark built Matthew a cave under our dining room table tonight. Matthew thought it was pretty cool and was acting pretty silly.

first school program
Matthew had his first school program this past Tuesday.
Unfortunately, because of the snow storm, school was cancelled on Monday - meaning - they didn't get to practice at all.
Matthew was his usual stoic self during the program. Even when he saw his friend, Johanna, when they finished - you can see that it's just kind of like "Hmm". I think he gets that from his daddy ;o)
SNOW
This was our first major snow fall this season. This picture was taken early in the day - it snowed alllllllll day.
You can see that Matthew is initiating a snow ball fight in the first picture!
Mark and Matthew are discussing where to build a snow man.
We're starting Matthew out slowly on the sled - as in level ground. He really enjoyed it and wanted to make sure that I was watching!

Matthew's first trip to the ED
Matthew took a tumble off the couch this morning. He bit through his lower lip :o(. We were in and out of the ED in 30 minutes - it was great! Matthew was a trooper! No stitches needed - just Dermabond. We went to the store afterwards to get pudding(he is not a pudding guy - but thought he would eat it this time - I was wrong). He ate yogurt for lunch and sprinkled his cheese in it.
After his nap he told Mark that he felt all better.

curious george
we saw curious george live today! we inadvertently found out that the lions play directly across the street from the theater - and had a game at the same time that cgl was starting. thankfully we were early enough that it wasn't a problem.
matthew was apprehensive at first - which we anticipated - which is another reason that we were glad that we were early. about twenty minutes in he started to enjoy it, though. it was a fun production and the fox theater is beautiful!
we stopped at ikea on the way home for dinner and dessert! a fun day, for sure!

the striped hat
i just love this hat!! i'm surprised that matthew was pleased to put it on - these days he's awfully attatched to a hat from g'ma and g'pa e.
he wore it last year and i figured that we could get another year out of it.
yes, we are preparing ourselves for our first real winter in four years - matthew's first ever! i do fear that i will have matthew looking like ralphie's brother in "a christmas story"!

trick-or-treating three ways for bob the builder
matthew got lots of trick-or-treating in this year. the first was his preschool's fall party. he was quite unimpressed with it - he's got yet another cold - so you could just see in his eyes that he wasn't feeling the greatest.
saturday night, we went to the mall for their trick-or-treating event. that was a little better - except for the hat that he was concerned about being too big. afterwards, we went over to some friends' house where all the kids wore their costumes to play.
tonight was lots of fun! the first hour we went out and around our neighborhood. matthew did a great job of walking around and not begging to be held. he loved getting candy and looking for houses with their lights on. our neighbor was kind enough to take his gorilla mask off for the little ones. matthew wasn't quite sure what to think of his costume - or of all the others that dressed up to hand out candy - but that sure didn't deter him in accomplishing his goal.
after we came back - matthew had fun watching out for trick-or-treaters coming to our door so mark could hand out candy! he also loved his glow sticks!
