The first of many to come

Matthew got his first scraped knee today. Mark said that he told him to "shake it off" and he was fine :o)

Happy Fathers' Day!

I could go on and on about my wonderful dad(and mom!) and otherly godly Fathers in my life! Suffice it say, I've been blessed beyond measure. The older I get, the more thankful I am!

18 months old

I'm eighteen months old today!! The picture that Mommy wanted to put up was a little risque for my taste - one of me running around naked after my bath - thankfully, I talked her out of that one!

I'm a busy guy! I like to go places, see things. I like anything loud and fast. I love wheels. Mommy is happy that I still like to cuddle when I'm tired or watching a video. I like to dance, too.

I'm proficient at waving bye-bye to anyone and everyone, occaisionally I'll wave hello. I'm a jabberer - still not into a lot of distinct words - but I know what a lot of things are. I tend to be a yes man - I like to nod my head when I know what I want. Nodding my head is "please" squinting my eyes is "thank you". Ironically, I don't say no - but I do make it clear when I don't want something.

You can always count on me eating fruit, gaucamole, hummus and my new green smoothies. Everything else is on a case by case basis. I like to dip things.

I love my Mommy and Daddy; I love it when I get to see G'ma and G'pa H. I'm looking forward to meeting G'ma and G'pa E in less than two weeks!!

Green smoothie anyone?

Seeing that the number of veggies Matthew will voluntarily eat is dwindling very quickly, I was so happy to see a Facebook friend's recommendation of the Green Smoothies that her 1 year old enjoys. I'm also glad to find this blog. It will be a nice resource. Thanks, Kristin!

Radical Womanhood

I really enjoy this blog - Radical Womahood - it used to be called Solo Femininity! So many of her posts are relevant to women today, the things we(single and married) struggle with. This is one of her latest posts about the chick flicks we love so much.

Summertime

Well, I had his pool from last year inflated, then Mackey decided to hop in and put holes in one of the rings - argh! I tried to patch it up - it just wasn't enough.
I can't complain too much - they're not very expensive - but the other one was from G'ma and G'pa.

He wasn't too sure at the beginning - but got the hang of it soon - and, of course, didn't want to get out. I imagine that we'll spend lots of afternoons here. Thankfully, our balcony is all shade in the afternoon!

Fathers' Day came early here

When I found this recipe for Mark's favorite Cheesecake Factory cheesecake(Fresh Banana Cream), I knew that I would have to make it. This was my first attempt at cheesecake - it was pretty easy - just a long process - and not too cheap.

It was all worth it, though. When I asked Mark what he thought, he just said, "Wow!".

VBS

We survived VBS week at our church! Since Mark and I were both serving, we brought Matthew to the nursery. Today was the last day, Matthew also didn't cry this morning when we dropped him off :o) yea!

His little friend all week was Berkley - she's the petite 14 month old of Mark's former collegue. They just brought her home from China a few months ago and they live an hour or so from here - so, it was a treat to see Berkley in person.

It's good to serve in VBS; it's good that it's over!

Fun times with Grandpa and Grandma

My parents are visiting(helping me out, more like it) for a few days while Mark is at a conference. It was a perfect, rare low humidity morning, so we decided to head up to the lake for a little bit. Matthew discovered going down the slide by himself - and liked it!

You can see in the one picture what Matthew has been doing routinely since G'ma and G'pa have been here - he wants G'pa to hold him - they are quite the buddies!

Matthew and his towel of many colors

Next to being naked, or running around with just his diaper, Matthew loves this hooded towel!

some surprises, some not.........

Interesting website about the quality of our foods. I thought this was an interesting list - not just for kids - but for us grown ups, too.

Let's go!

Matthew loves to go "bye bye"!! This picture was taken this morning as he waited to go to the office with Mark. Mark takes Matthew with him about every day at some point now that the semester is over. Matthew likes walking to the library and around the halls. The women in the library look forward to seeing him, too. He lets them all hold him now.
