a favorite of mine

“I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God's hands, that I still possess”

Martin Luther

I thought this was a Corrie ten Boom quote - but when I looked it up - I was wrong. I've loved this quote since I first heard it. I didn't put it here for anything in particular - but for everything in general. I realize that I tend to try to hold on to "my things" - whether they are dreams, ideals, relationships, etc....... instead of entrusting them to God.

A boy and his elephant

Mardi Gras

We went to the First United Methodist Church last night for their Fat Tuesday dinner. It was pretty yummy - all of the typical things you think of when you hear Cajun. Behind Matthew is the jazz band - it was loud - but Matthew was beebopping to the music.

our busy little guy

Matthew tries to do the hand motions to eentsy weensty spider now - he's fun to watch. He points to everything now and wants you to tell him what it is - or get it for him ;o) Matthew loves his meals! This "free kisses" shirt was from Grandma and Grandpa E. for Valentine's day. :o) And, yes, he still needs a haircut.

Matthew's other big "accomplishment" is that he's been officially down to one nap a day for over a week now. Oddly enough - it's the afternoon nap that he gave up. So, now, the morning nap has been stretched from 10:30 til around 12 or 12:30. The great thing for Mommy and Daddy...........bedtime is an hour earlier - 7pm!!! He still gets up around 6am - he's just a morning baby. Of course, this new routine has thrown me for a loop! I have one nap to try to get everything done in - I don't know that I've completely adjusted to that - looking at my exercise routine - or lack therof will be proof enough.

Swedish jammies that fit and eating outside

Yes, Grandma - these jammies finally fit!

It was so nice yesterday that we ate dinner out on our little balcony. It was all good til I realized that I was being eaten alive by mosquitos. I counted at least 5 bites on my legs - argh. And, so, it begins.

such a cutie

So, Matthew is not walking independently, yet. I know that he will at some point - Mark's mom said that he didn't start walking til 14 or 15 months. Oh, well............

We were planning on waiting for his first haircut when he started walking - you know, big boy, big haircut... I don't know that we can last. I certainly don't think this chip clip is a good alternative. Matthew agrees ;o)

What do you think, Mom? Mark actually wanted a picture of him with a barrette in his hair - to tuck away for embarrassment in the future.
