attitude of gratitude

How can it be possible that it's the end of May?!

As summer in the South comes, it's easy for me to get cranky about the humidity, the melting heat, the lack of "air flow" etc........ As much as I love the mild winters, I still am not convinced that it's worth the "price" of our loooooooong summers.

I am so thankful my wonderful parents and in-laws!! I wish - so much - that we could be close enough to say -"Hey, do you want to come over for dinner this evening?"

I am thankful for the long suffering and patient work of the Holy Spirit in my life. I'm convinced that I am in a waiting period right now. Just to come consistently before God, contentedly and quietly, wait - that is my desire. I know that it is for my benefit and God's glory. I wish that I could say that I was always patiently waiting. Thankfully, I've grown in this area, I do know that there is still a lot more growth to be had.

The list goes on...........God has been very good to me! Praise Him for His faithfulness to us - when we are faithless!

Me, Crabby??

Actually, no. Matthew is generally not crabby unless he's really tired or teething.

On a side note - I found four dark hairs on his head :o( I'm hoping this blond hair lasts a few more years, at least.

Adventures of Guacamole boy

Apart from fruits and sweets, guacamole is about the only thing we can count on Matthew eating when we go out. So, trying to take advantage of low humidity and mild temps, we headed up to Hot Springs today(and before tourist season starts this weekend!!).

We ate at On the Border - MTE wasn't as impressed with their guac. - nor were we - but he ate a little. We also went downtown - which we won't do again til after Labor Day. Matthew decided that being among nature wasn't so bad after all - pavement, at least. I did lure him onto the grass - where he promptly sat down when he got to me and decided that he couldn't walk anymore unless he was on the sidewalk.

The best part of it all??? We went to Dairy Queen and I got a blizzard!!! A rarity for me down here in Arkansas!

ROAR!!

This is my new spatula. Even though a person doesn't really need an excuse to buy "fun" functional items, having a child really is a good excuse! :o)

Strawberry picking time - almost

I had the opportunity to go pick some strawberries Tuesday morning. I didn't realize how high up I was driving until I was driving back and could see the tops of the hills. I was picking these strawberries between rain showers for the past couple of weeks - so, they were a bit sparse without all of the sunshine.

With that said, I did get several pounds picked and they are currently tucked away in the freezer. I tend to be stingy with produce - I hate to "use them all at once" in jams - even though that would be yummy.
