trick-or-treating three ways for bob the builder

matthew got lots of trick-or-treating in this year. the first was his preschool's fall party. he was quite unimpressed with it - he's got yet another cold - so you could just see in his eyes that he wasn't feeling the greatest.

saturday night, we went to the mall for their trick-or-treating event. that was a little better - except for the hat that he was concerned about being too big. afterwards, we went over to some friends' house where all the kids wore their costumes to play.

tonight was lots of fun! the first hour we went out and around our neighborhood. matthew did a great job of walking around and not begging to be held. he loved getting candy and looking for houses with their lights on. our neighbor was kind enough to take his gorilla mask off for the little ones. matthew wasn't quite sure what to think of his costume - or of all the others that dressed up to hand out candy - but that sure didn't deter him in accomplishing his goal.

after we came back - matthew had fun watching out for trick-or-treaters coming to our door so mark could hand out candy! he also loved his glow sticks!

counting down

in order to help me out mentally through this ordeal - i've decided to let matthew decorate my splint with new stickers every week.

week 1:

week 2:

pumpkin patch

whew - we've bee to three different apple orchards in as many days. this is the one we went to on saturday. of course, with all of the "punkins" that matthew could have chosen - he was quite proud of picking these little guys. we've enjoyed our indian summer - i think that today is probably the last day of it.

tricked out!

this is the tricked out splint that i got today - yet, again, this saga gets more invasive than i had would have thought. i now have to do passive exercises on my pinky every hour while i'm awake for the next four weeks + physical therapy twice a week.

yet, again, i must remind myself of romans 8:28,29.

FINALLY!

okay, so this picture is more for me than anyone else. we ordered this sectional on June 16th - the day after we rolled into town. we just got it last week - i am so happy it is here. i feel so much more settled now!

the pinky finger saga

so, here is my pinky finger - taken before and after the surgery. monday was somewhat surreal for me - knowing that i was going to have these major restrictions afterward - knowing that this pinky finger was merely a slight inconvenience before the sugery.
in my mind - i've been thinking of it as the divine laceration - how one little slip has caused all of this fuss!
i'm resting in romans 8:28 - this verse always reminds me of pastor goode - i can still see him on the platform reciting this verse "and we know that some things work together; everything but this works together; ALL things work together..."
now to remember this for the next 6-8 weeks!
