Off the charts!

Today was Matthew's two month checkup and shots. You know - when you see them everyday - sometimes you don't realize how big they're getting.
Today when I looked at Matthew sleeping in his crib - it was a definite - "yeah, he IS getting bigger". That realization was confirmed this morning --- his head is 16"(70th percetile) he weighs 13#12oz(75th percentile), and the drum roll....... 25 1/2 inches long(over the 95th percentile - off the chart!!!!).
We have to keep up with Caleb, you know ;o)
He's sleeping off the shots and Tyelnol - poor little guy. I think it was harder on Daddy than myself - Mark watched while he got his shots - I held him so I really wasn't able to see his face during the process.

Out for a walk

Sunday afternoon we loaded up Matthew and went for a walk on the trail. He wasn't too impressed. I took him for a walk around our complex yesterday - after 15 minutes of crying - he fell asleep - it was time for a nap anyway. :o)

New strategies

Okay, time to get real! I've realized in the past that accountability really helps in losing weight for me - along with diet and exercise, of course. Now with a baby, and a wedding to go to in August - that is a big incentive to get healthier!
I do understand that it's not always best for a husband to be the "food police" - just like it's not usually best for the wife to be the "purity police" for her husband. But, with that said - I HAVE invited Mark to overlook an open food journal that I'll keep out on the counter. He is WELCOME to peruse it as often or as little as he likes - just knowing that he may look at it and ask me about it will help.

Two months old!

I'm two months old today!! I like lifting my head up to see what's going on! I like to suck on my fist - whenever I can get it into my mouth. I do that better when I'm on my belly. I do like sleeping on my belly the best. Smiling is okay - I am doing it more, though. I like looking at the tv. I make more sounds, too. I go to the doctor next week - so I don't know how much I weigh. I eat about four ounces every four hours. I can still wear some of my newborn clothes - thankfully, Mom and Dad bought some onsie extenders so that I can wear my onsies longer. Mommy and Daddy love me a lot.

yikes

i'm trying out google's adsense on the side of my blog - evidently i can earn some $$ and i wanted to check it out for a while to see if it works. anyway, i checked out today's "ad" - why is the rapture a lie?? eeks - if this continues, i'll have to put a disclaimer above it or just take it off.

schedules and such

I'm so thankful for the past week and a half! I "put" Matthew on a schedule and he's doing well. I decided that he was old enough and big enogh to eat roughly every four hours. I keep hoping that through the night - it will stretch out to five or six - but - in time. Actually, the past two nights he's gone five hours between his late night feeding and his early morning feeding - I'm hoping that it's not a fluke :o) We start him out sleeping on his back/side - but he much prefers his belly when sleeping - he'll sleep more soundly once we "flip" him over near the end of the night.

Again?

I heard that stamps are going up to 42 cents in May. Didn't they just go up last year - or am I thinking wrong??

Curious Matthew

I'm sorry, but he's just so stinkin' cute!!

Times flies.........

You're right, Mom - Matthew is seven weeks old! That's even better :o)

Blessings

Matthew is six weeks old today!!! Praise God! A couple of days ago, I started feeding him around every four hours and he's done well. He's doing much better with his feedings - we don't have to poke and prod him quite as much. It's been almost two weeks since he's thrown up. He noticed his fist this week - had that cute crosseyed look when he was looking at it :o) Matthew holds his head up - for what seems to be - a long time when one of us is holding him. He's also been smiling at us more - that's the biggest treat!!

One of the great things about Mark teaching at the university is the pool of babysitters that we now have! Mark arranged for Matthew's first sitter tomorrow so that we can go out for a movie and sushi - all about forty minutes away.

God has been good to us old, first time parents!!

And the award goes to............

Say "hello" to the most ungrateful person around - me. Ever have those times when all you focus on is the negative instead of all of the great things?
I mean, we never have an excuse to be ungrateful - to God or anyone else - about our lives; yet, somehow, I manage to do a very good job of making my life sound like a miserable existence - which it is not!

First day at church

Matthew went to church today!! Being that it's a smaller church - they don't have too many little babies so everyone was very excited to see Matthew come. The other gal at church who was due the same day that I was - and had her little Jude a week early - I'm not bitter - brought her baby today, too. He gets his own crib the whole time that he's in that phase of the nursery and they post a picture of the baby on the window outside of the nursery above their crib so everyone walking past can see what baby is in there - if he ever makes it in the crib. I have a hunch that he will be held the entire time :o)

Matthew was a hit!
